Data Security on Ink4Print

The security of your information is important to us. The Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) sets out eight principles for the handling of personal information. These are that personal information is:

  • Fairly and lawfully processed
  • Processed for limited purposes
  • Adequate, relevant and not excessive
  • Accurate and up to date
  • Not kept for longer than is necessary
  • Processed in line with your rights
  • Secure
  • Not transferred to other countries without adequate protection

The purposes for which we process personal information are accounts and records and we may also use it for advertising, marketing and public relations. Full details of how we handle your data is given in our privacy policy, which is included in our terms and conditions

We have taken the following steps to ensure the security of your data.

SSL Certificate

We have an Extended Validation Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate on this site and all pages that are used to collect personal data are covered by it. This means that the certificate issuer has verified the identity of our company as well as ensuring that we transmit data securely. On high security browsers, the background to the address will turn green when on a secure page covered by an EV SSL certificate.

Secure pages have an address that starts https, rather than http and should have a padlock displayed by your browser. Right clicking on the padlock when on a secure page or on the GeoTrust logo on any page brings up details of the certificate and allows you to check the validity before giving any information. All data entered on a secure page is encrypted before being transmitted.

PCI certification

Certification under this scheme shows that our security systems meet the standards set down by the credit card issuers. Compliance is confirmed by a quarterly audit, which includes tests of our computer system's vulnerability to attack, by an independent outside company, approved by the payment card industry.

Sage Pay

Sage Pay (formerly Protx) is a third party card handling service, which we use to take payments online. The details you enter on the payments section of our site are securely transmitted directly to Sage Pay and we do not receive or store the information you enter. The only information we receive about your card, which we is sent to us by Sage Pay, is the type of card and the last four digits of the number

Deferred Payment

No payment is taken when you enter your card details on our site. The amount you approve for payment is authorised with your bank and recorded against your credit limit. We can then ask for payment to be made by the card company any time within the next week or two, through Sage Pay. If we do not, the transaction is cancelled. If, for any reason, we are unable to dispatch your order immediately, we will not take your money until the goods are ready for dispatch, except with your specific prior permission.

3D Secure

Verified by VISA and Mastercard SecureCode are part of a system known as 3D Secure, which is intended to give the same security for online sales as chip and PIN does for personal sales. Maestro is now insisting upon the use of 3D secure on all online orders, which means that any internet site that accepts Maestro must use it for all cards.

The first time you order online using a 3D secure site, you will be asked to provide a password, which you will use for all future 3D secure transactions on that card. Some banks allow you to delay creating the password until a later order, but some do not. The advantage is that it prevents anyone who does not know your password from using your card to buy goods online. We will not ask you for your password at any time and you should not divulge it to anyone else.

SafeBuy

SafeBuy is an independent voluntary scheme for internet retailers. It sets a code of practice that they must abide by and continually monitors their performance through mystery shoppers. It also offers an arbitration service for disputes between the retailer and its customers.
